DAY 4:  SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 – JUNEAU, ALASKA (1:30pm – 10:00pm)
Juneau, often hailed as "Alaska's ultimate experience," owes much of its reputation to its unrivalled glacier vistas found in locations such as Tracy Arm Fjord, the Juneau Icefields, and Glacier Bay National Park. Visitors can choose from a variety of activities, including kayaking through the protected waterways, embarking on captivating flightseeing adventures, exploring the historic downtown district, or trying their hand at gold panning. Notably, the majestic Mendenhall Glacier, situated approximately 12 miles from Juneau, makes the journey undeniably worthwhile.

Located in one of the most remote, stunning, and unique state capitals in the United States, Juneau, Alaska boasts a blend of waterfront, forested, and mountainous scenery, offering visitors an array of indoor and outdoor attractions. Within a single day, you can hike on a glacier, savour freshly caught seafood on a seaside terrace, and tour a magnificent capitol building.

While the city itself exudes a certain charm, the true allure of Juneau lies in its abundant wildlife. Hiking up Mount Roberts provides opportunities to encounter wild deer and majestic bald eagles. For the best view of these graceful marine creatures, most sightseeing and whale-watching tours head north to Auke Bay, where quality binoculars come in handy. Those with a preference for land-dwelling mammals can catch a floatplane to a nearby wildlife reserve, such as Chichagof or Admiralty Island, for a chance to observe bears in their natural habitat.

Juneau's vast expanse and rich natural offerings set it apart from the majority of American state capitals. Tourists arrive by air or sea, with many choosing to cruise into the city. The list of activities available in Juneau is extensive, encompassing sea kayaking, humpback whale watching, dog sledding, and awe-inspiring views of Mount Juneau. Don't miss the opportunity to ride the Mount Roberts Tramway, visit the magnificent Mendenhall Glacier, and stroll through the lively downtown area, where an array of restaurants and historic saloons beckon wanderers from the brisk outdoors. Juneau also hosts a selection of annual events, including Gold Rush Days, the Alaska Folk Festival, the Golden North Salmon Derby, and the Juneau Maritime Festival.

With its population of around 32,000, primarily composed of fishermen and small-business owners, Juneau boasts a laid-back, misty ambiance, reminiscent of a frontier town. However, it warmly welcomes over a million visitors each summer, all eager to explore its natural wonders. This surge of tourists has established Juneau as Alaska's premier tourist destination.
