We will be driving in Gros Morne National Park which is also a World Heritage Site, as well as enjoy lunch in Shallow Bay. After lunch, we will go visit the Arches Provincial Park. We will then continue and overnight in Gander for two (2) nights, crossroads of the world and inspiration for the Tony award winning Broadway play, Come From Away.

DAY 5:  MONDAY, JUNE 24 – (GANDER) TWILLINGATE
We will enjoy beautiful scenery with tickles, runs and inlets as we head for Twillingate, a.k.a. Iceberg Alley, where we will have an adventure with Iceberg Quest Ocean Boat Tours.  We will explore Iceberg Alley with their award-winning boat tour as we set sail from the vibrant outport community of Twillingate. Marvel at 12,000-year-old icebergs (fingers crossed), observe majestic humpback whales (fingers crossed) and watch elegant seabirds frolic along our coastlines. Relax as the friendly crew proudly introduces us to outport Newfoundland’s way of life, charisma and hospitality that attract visitors from around the globe.

The two (2) hour tour is supported by a compelling narrative, highlighting the natural and cultural history of Newfoundland.  The vessel offers open decks for unobstructed viewing, heated cabin and washroom facilities.  Full bar service and light snacks are available for purchase. Every tour is accompanied by traditional Newfoundland music.

After the boat tour, we will have lunch and wine tasting at a winery (included).  There is also a beautiful gift shop here if you wish to purchase some souvenirs.

DAY 6:  TUESDAY, JUNE 25 – (GANDER TO CLARENVILLE) BONAVISTA & TRINITY
Today after breakfast, we head out to the historical town of Bonavista. We will visit “The Matthew Legacy”.  Ryan Premises National Historic Site commemorates the rich history of the Newfoundland cod fishery and tells the story of the Ryan family who pioneered generations of business success in the fishery.

The site includes a traditional suite of buildings (5) associated with a fish merchant: a house, store, salt storage, and various outbuildings. The site includes exhibits telling the 500-year-old story of the Atlantic cod fishery, a gift shop, theatre space, a furniture exhibit, and the Bonavista Museum, which has an extensive collection of genealogical records of local families. Passengers can visit all of the buildings.

The Matthew is a replica of a caravel sailed by John Cabot in 1497 from Bristol to North America, presumably Newfoundland. After a voyage which had got no further than Iceland, Cabot left again with only one vessel, the Matthew, a small ship (50 tons), but fast and able.

We will have lunch at the historic harbor front area and then after lunch we will visit Cape Bonavista Lighthouse and the Puffin Colony.  Built in 1843, the lighthouse at Cape Bonavista is one of the few in the world where you can still climb up the stone tower and see the same seal oil fueled catoptric light apparatus that was used in the 1800s. Experience a light keeper's day in 1870 - a 24/7 job of polishing glass, filling oil lamps, recording weather patterns and watching the waves from one of the most rugged points in Newfoundland. A great destination to watch for whales, icebergs and puffins in summer.

Then we will head to Trinity to visit the “Old Trinity Historic Site” and this evening, we will have dinner with amazing views here in Trinity!!!  After dinner, we will then make our way back to the hotel for the night.

DAY 7:  WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26 – CLARENVILLE TO ST. JOHN’S
This morning after breakfast, we will have our last amazing boat tour with O’Brien’s Whale & Puffins award winning tour.  Hopefully we will see whales (no guarantee) and puffins.  There is a gift shop with snacks on the boat. (added cost)

Enjoy your time here!  We will offer drop off and pick up to the mall and other area in St. John’s if requested.
