DAY 1:  SATURDAY, JUNE 8 – NB & NS TO SYDNEY NS

Welcome aboard! Today we begin our nine (9) days of adventure and excitement as we make our way towards Newfoundland. We will stop for breaks and supper along the way.  Tonight, we will arrive at our hotel in Sydney and relax for the evening.

DAY 2:  SUNDAY, JUNE 9 – NORTH SYDNEY TO DEER LAKE NL
This morning after a nice hotel breakfast, we will make our way to the Ferry Terminal in North Sydney and we will board the ferry when advised. The ferry departure time is scheduled for 11:45 am.  Before boarding the ferry, your Tour Director will advise you of the procedures for embarking and disembarking.

Sailing from North Sydney to Port aux Basques is an exciting and picturesque journey that offers travelers the opportunity to explore the scenic beauty of Newfoundland and Labrador. Here are some key points to know about this day sailing adventure:

The ferry ride is renowned for its stunning natural beauty. As you sail across the Gulf of St. Lawrence, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of rugged coastlines, rolling hills, and, if you're lucky, glimpses of marine wildlife such as whales and seabirds.

The ferry is equipped with various amenities to make your journey comfortable and enjoyable like dining facilities, lounges and gift shops. It's a good idea to explore the ferry and its amenities during the trip.

To make the most of your day sailing, consider bringing essentials like snacks, a good book, and binoculars for wildlife watching. Be sure to dress in layers, as weather conditions can change rapidly at sea.

Photography Opportunities - The journey offers numerous photography opportunities. Keep your camera or smartphone handy to capture the scenic landscapes, especially as you approach Newfoundland.

After disembarkation around 6:45pm this evening, we will make our way to our hotel in Deer Lake for the night.

DAY 3:  MONDAY, JUNE 10 – DEER LAKE TO GANDER (2 NIGHTS)
After a restful night and a delicious breakfast, we will start making our way to Gander while visiting and touring Newfoundland’s beautiful scenery along the way!

After lunch, we will visit the Newfoundland Insectarium, a world-class nature museum just outside Deer Lake. This remarkable venue showcases thousands of live and mounted insects, arachnids, and arthropods from all corners of the globe. From the tiniest critters to the most majestic beetles, this immersive experience promises to leave you in awe of Mother Nature’s incredible diversity. The Newfoundland Insectarium has been captivating visitors since 1998 and has garnered accolades from over 500,000 guests. Its converted barn setting, encompassing 20 acres of natural beauty, is a testament to the wonders that await us within.

Then we will make our way to our hotel for the night in the Town of Gander, crossroads of the world and inspiration for the Tony award winning Broadway play, Come From Away.

This evening, you can unwind and relax. Don't worry about dinner – there are plenty of food options near the hotel, including a delightful restaurant right on-site!

DAY 4:  TUESDAY, JUNE 11 – (GANDER) TWILLINGATE
Get ready for an unforgettable adventure as we set sail through the breathtaking Iceberg Alley in Twillingate! Immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring beauty of tickles, runs, and inlets, surrounded by 12,000-year-old icebergs (fingers crossed) and the graceful dance of humpback whales (fingers crossed).

Our partner, Iceberg Quest Ocean Boat Tours, offers an award-winning boat tour that will leave you in awe of nature's wonders. The friendly crew will introduce us to the genuine charisma and hospitality of outport Newfoundland. As we sail through the vibrant community of Twillingate, be prepared to be captivated by Newfoundland's rich natural and cultural history.

During the two-hour boat tour, you'll enjoy unobstructed views from open decks, relax in the heated cabin, and have access to washroom facilities. Treat yourself to the bar service and light snacks available for purchase, all while being serenaded by traditional Newfoundland music.

After the tour, we'll indulge in a delightful lunch and wine tasting at a local winery (included). Take a piece of Newfoundland home with you from their charming gift shop.

In the afternoon, we'll visit the Long Point Lighthouse Centre, offering fantastic opportunities for scenic pictures and another delightful gift shop.

As the day comes to a close, we'll return to our comfortable hotel in Gander for a relaxing evening. Feel free to unwind and have dinner on your own, either at the hotel restaurant or at nearby dining spots.

DAY 5:  WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12 – GANDER TO CLARENVILLE (BONAVISTA & TRINITY)
Today after breakfast, we head out to the historical town of Bonavista. We will visit “The Matthew Legacy”.

The Matthew is a replica of a caravel sailed by John Cabot in 1497 from Bristol to North America, presumably Newfoundland. After a voyage which had got no further than Iceland, Cabot left again with only one vessel, the Matthew, a small ship (50 tons), but fast and able.

We will have lunch at the historic harbor front area and then after lunch we will visit Cape Bonavista Lighthouse and the Puffin Colony.  Built in 1843, the lighthouse at Cape Bonavista is one of the few in the world where you can still climb up the stone tower and see the same seal oil fueled catoptric light apparatus that was used in the 1800s. Experience a light keeper's day in 1870 - a 24/7 job of polishing glass, filling oil lamps, recording weather patterns and watching the waves from one of the most rugged points in Newfoundland. A great destination to watch for whales, icebergs and puffins in summer.

Then we will head to Trinity to visit the “Old Trinity Historic Site” and this evening, we will have dinner with amazing views here in Trinity!!!  After dinner, we will then make our way back to the hotel for the night.
DAY 6:  THURSDAY, JUNE 13 – CLARENVILLE TO ST. JOHN’S (2 NIGHTS)
This morning after breakfast, we will have our last amazing boat tour with O’Brien’s Whale & Puffins award winning tour.  Hopefully we will see whales (no guarantee) and puffins.  There is a gift shop with snacks on the boat. (added cost)

After lunch at a local restaurant, we will head to we make our way to St. John's, the province's capital city where we will make our home for the next two (2) nights where you can relax a bit and then go out for dinner (on your own) in beautiful Downtown St. John’s.  There are plenty of restaurants in the area to explore!  The remainder of the evening is yours to explore one of the oldest cities in Canada. Enjoy your time here!

DAY 7:  FRIDAY, JUNE 14 – ST. JOHN’S – LOCAL TOURING
This morning after breakfast, we will welcome aboard a local Step-On-Guide who will explore this great City of St. John’s with us visiting Signal Hill, Cabot Tower, Quidi Vidi Fishing Village, Government House, Roman Catholic Basilica and many other historic sites throughout the city. After lunch, we will head for Cape Spear National Park, the most easterly point of land in North America. Cape Spear offers spectacular coastal scenery as well as WW 2-gun emplacements and the oldest lighthouse in Newfoundland. We will then take a drive to the quaint fishing village of Petty Harbour.

This evening, we will have our “Farewell Dinner” at the hotel and talk about our amazing trip to Newfoundland with your new friends you made on the tour. After dinner, you are free to explore your last evening downtown in St. John’s on your own!

DAY 8: SATURDAY, JUNE 15 - ST. JOHN’S TO ARGENTIA FERRY
After a delicious breakfast, we begin to make our way to Argentia where we will take an overnight ferry ride to North Sydney, Nova Scotia. But first, we will visit the Johnson Geo Centre and then we will have lunch before heading to the ferry terminal in Argentia.  Our ferry departs at 5:00pm and is scheduled to arrive in North Sydney at 9:00am tomorrow.  We will have cabin accommodations on the ferry.  Before boarding the ferry, your Tour Director will advise you of procedures and distribution of cabin keys where you will sleep for the night on the ferry.  There is a lounge and restaurants on the ferry as well.  Enjoy your evening on the ferry!
