DAY 1:  THURSDAY, AUGUST 13 – NB / NS TO FERRY (NORTH SYDNEY NS)

Welcome aboard! Today we begin our eleven (11) days of adventure and excitement as we make our way towards Newfoundland. We will stop for breaks and supper along the way.  Tonight, we’ll arrive at the North Sydney Ferry Terminal and board the ferry for our overnight crossing to Newfoundland, where you'll enjoy a night's rest onboard.

DAY 2: FRIDAY, AUGUST 14 – PORT-AUX-BASQUES NL TO COW HEAD (2 NIGHTS)
BREAKFAST ON FERRY (ON YOUR OWN)
Enjoy breakfast on the ferry this morning (at your leisure) before we disembark and begin our Newfoundland adventure. Today we travel toward Cow Head, with our first stop along the way at a delightful fabric shop in Stephenville to spark some creative inspiration. After a lunch break (on your own) in Corner Brook, we’ll continue the fun with a visit to our second fabric store offering another chance to browse and discover new treasures.

This evening, we will check into our host hotel in Cow Head, our home for the next two (2) nights. At the hotel, enjoy a relaxing evening with amenities like an outdoor heated swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, exercise room, and stunning sunsets. Just at the end of town, you’ll find a beautiful white sandy beach, recognized as one of the Top 10 Beaches in Canada. Tonight, you’ll have the option to enjoy dinner (on your own) at the hotel pub or at one of the nearby local restaurants.

DAY 3: SATURDAY, AUGUST 15 – COW HEAD – GROS MORNE – LOCAL TOURING
This morning, after a hot breakfast, we’ll journey to the awe-inspiring Gros Morne National Park, celebrated for its striking fjords, rugged cliffs, and ancient mountains that showcase some of Newfoundland’s most stunning landscapes. Our visit begins at the renowned Discovery Centre, where you’ll step into a world of geological wonders, rich cultural heritage, and diverse flora and fauna that make this UNESCO World Heritage Site truly unforgettable.

After lunch (on your own) in Rocky Harbour, enjoy some free time to explore local fabric and craft shops and browse for unique Newfoundland-inspired finds. We’ll then visit the iconic Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse; a charming beacon perched along the rugged Atlantic coastline. Later, we’ll make our way to Arches Provincial Park, known for its striking rock formations, with a brief stop along the way at the Western Brook Pond Trail to admire the mountain scenery.

This evening, join us for dinner and an “Old-Fashioned Newfoundland Kitchen Party” with dancing and of course you will all become “Honorary Newfoundlanders” and be Screeched-In!

DAY 4: SUNDAY, AUGUST 16 – COW HEAD TO GANDER (2 NIGHTS)
After a delightful breakfast, we set off on an exciting journey to Gander, a town with a rich history and a heartwarming story. As the "Crossroads of the World" and the inspiration for the Tony award-winning Broadway play, Come From Away.  Gander promises a captivating experience!

This morning, we will visit the Newfoundland Insectarium, a world-class nature museum just outside Deer Lake. This unique venue features a fascinating collection of live and mounted insects, arachnids, and arthropods from around the world. From tiny critters to majestic beetles, this insectarium highlights the incredible diversity of nature. Since 1998, the Newfoundland Insectarium has enchanted over 500,000 visitors with its captivating displays set amidst 20 acres of natural beauty.

After lunch (on your own), we’ll make a stop at another fabric shop, before continuing to Gander, where we will check into our hotel for the next two (2) nights. You’ll have the evening free to relax at the hotel, enjoy dinner at the hotel restaurant, or explore other nearby dining options. 

DAY 5: MONDAY, AUGUST 17 – GANDER (TWILLINGATE)
Today, after breakfast, we’ll enjoy a special on-site visit from a mobile fabric shop, perfect for browsing, inspiration, and picking up a few treasures.

We will then venture to the charming town of Twillingate, nestled along the coast and known as the Iceberg Capital of the World, where we will have lunch at a local winery (included). Be sure to check out the beautiful gift shop for any souvenirs you'd like to take home!

In the afternoon, we'll stop at the Long Point Lighthouse Centre, offering plenty of opportunities for breathtaking photos. There’s also a charming gift shop to explore.  

We’ll make one final fabric shop for today as we return to Gander. This evening is yours to relax and unwind. Dinner is on your own, either in the hotel restaurant or at one of the nearby dining options.

DAY 6: TUESDAY, AUGUST 18 – GANDER TO ST. JOHN’S (2 NIGHTS)
Today after breakfast, we head out to the historical town of Bonavista. We will visit “The Matthew Legacy”.

The Matthew is a replica of a caravel sailed by John Cabot in 1497 from Bristol to North America, presumably Newfoundland. After a voyage which had got no further than Iceland, Cabot left again with only one vessel, the Matthew, a small ship (50 tons), but fast and able. 

We will have lunch at the historic harbor front area and then visit Cape Bonavista Lighthouse and the Puffin ColonyBuilt in 1843, the lighthouse at Cape Bonavista is one of the few in the world where you can still climb up the stone tower and see the same seal oil fueled catoptric light apparatus that was used in the 1800s. Experience a light keeper's day in 1870; a 24-7 job of polishing glass, filling oil lamps, recording weather patterns and watching the waves from one of the most rugged points in Newfoundland.
We’ll then indulge in a delicious dinner with breathtaking views in Trinity, where you’ll also have time to browse the restaurant’s charming gift shop. We will then make our way to St. John's, where we will be staying for the next two (2) nights.

DAY 7:  WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19 – ST. JOHN’S – LOCAL
This morning, after breakfast, we’ll welcome a local Step-On Guide aboard as we explore the vibrant City of St. John’s. Our guided tour will take us to some of the area’s most iconic and historic sites, including Signal Hill, Cabot Tower, Quidi Vidi Fishing Village, Government House, and the impressive Roman Catholic Basilica. We’ll also journey to Cape Spear National Historic Site, the easternmost point in North America, where you’ll experience breathtaking coastal views, WW 2-gun emplacements, and Newfoundland’s oldest lighthouse.

After lunch on your own, we will enjoy shopping stops at two local favourites shops for quilters at Fiberlilly and East Coast Quilt Co.

This evening, dinner is on your own at the hotel or at one of the many nearby restaurants. After dinner, enjoy free time to explore your final evening downtown in St. John's at your own pace.

DAY 8: THURSDAY, AUGUST 20 – ST. JOHN’S TO CLARENVILLE
This morning after breakfast, we will have an amazing boat tour with O’Brien’s Whale & Puffins award winning tour.  Keep your fingers crossed for captivating sightings of majestic whales and adorable puffins (no guarantees, but nature's surprises are always a possibility!). During the tour, you'll have the chance to visit the onboard gift shop where you can grab some delicious snacks (additional cost) to satisfy any cravings while enjoying the scenic views.

After lunch at a local restaurant, we begin our journey toward Clarenville, we’ll enjoy a scenic morning with stops at some delightful quilt shops along the way.

Our day concludes with check-in at the hotel, where you’ll have the evening to rest and recharge. On-site dining is available at the hotel.

DAY 9: FRIDAY, AUGUST 21 – CLARENVILLE – LOCAL
This morning after breakfast, we’ll explore Clarenville’s local quilting scene with a visit to Clarenville Home and Leisure, a go-to destination for quilting supplies and fabrics.

Then it’s time to enjoy the Clarenville Regional Fibre Festival. Discover a vibrant display of local fibre arts, browse the bustling vendor market, and connect with passionate makers celebrating the rich traditions of quilting, knitting, spinning, and more. Lunch will be available for purchase at the festival, giving you the freedom to dine at your own pace while taking in the festivities.

This evening, we’ll gather for a special farewell dinner at the hotel restaurant, a lovely time to reflect on our quilt journey, share favorite moments, and enjoy one last meal together with new friends.

DAY 10: SATURDAY, AUGUST 22 – CLARENVILLE TO ARGENTIA AND FERRY
This morning after breakfast, we’ll continue exploring Clarenville’s local quilting scene with a visit back to the Clarenville Regional Fibre Festival.

Afterward, we’ll enjoy a scenic drive toward Argentia where we will take an overnight ferry ride to North Sydney, Nova Scotia. We’ll stop for lunch on your own along the way.
Our ferry departs at 5:00 pm and is scheduled to arrive in North Sydney at 9:00 am tomorrow.  We will have cabin accommodations on the ferry.  Before boarding the ferry, your Tour Director will advise you of procedures and distribution of cabin keys where you will sleep for the night on the ferry.  There is a lounge and some restaurants on the ferry as well.  Enjoy your evening on the ferry!

DAY 11:  SUNDAY, AUGUST 23 – NORTH SYDNEY TO NS & NB
BREAKFAST ON FERRY (ON YOUR OWN)
This morning, we dock in Sydney NS right after breakfast. We will make our way back to our destinations with breaks along the way.  You will make your way home and say goodbye to your new-found friends, Tour Director and Driver. You will leave us with unforgettable memories of your STITCHED IN TIME: A Newfoundland Quilting Journey Dream Tour. We hope to see you again in the near future!
