DAY 1 – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12 – NS & NB TO MASSACHUSETTS
Let the adventure begin! Today we will depart
Dartmouth bright and early, making our way to
Massachusetts. Get ready for a road trip filled with laughter, great reads, and spontaneous fun! If time allows we will stop for some shopping – retail therapy, anyone?
DAY 2 – MONDAY, OCTOBER 13 – MASSACHUSETTS TO NEW YORK CITY
After a complimentary hot breakfast, we will head to the
Big Apple. Get ready for a literary adventure as we embark on a book crawl to discover some of New York City's hidden gems.
For lunch, we'll be stopping at the famous
Chelsea Market! Don't worry, there will be plenty of time for both eating and shopping. Afterward, we'll head to our first bookstore of the day,
Housing Works Bookstore. Fun fact: it was featured in
Taylor Swift's "All Too Well" music video!
Next, we're off to the iconic
Strand Bookstore! Did you know The Strand is famous for its extensive collection of new, used, and rare books? But that's not all for today... Our last bookish activity takes us to none other than the world's largest bookstore,
Barnes & Noble at Union Square! This Barnes & Noble spans four floors and boasts an impressive selection of books, magazines, and more. It's a must-visit for any book lover!
After a fantastic afternoon of exploring bookstores, we'll check into our luxurious
Times Square hotel, the
New York Marriott Marquis! Tonight, you'll have free time to explore NYC on your own!
DAY 3 – TUESDAY, OCTOBER 14 – NEW YORK CITY
Today promises a delightful mix of literary adventures and free time in the vibrant streets of New York City! After enjoying breakfast (on your own), we'll make our way on foot to the
New York Public Library for an exclusive private tour of this historic landmark. Did you know the NYPL houses over 53 million items, including rare books and manuscripts?
Following our tour, we'll have some time to grab a quick lunch, relax and read (weather permitting) in
Bryant Park. Bryant Park is renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and offers a variety of food vendors serving delicious meals from around the world.
Next, we'll walk to the nearby
Drama Book Shop, a beloved spot known for its extensive collection of scripts, theater books, and unique atmosphere.
Later in the afternoon, our bus will take us to a
surprise location where we'll enjoy drinks and reading before heading over to
Brooklyn for more bookstore adventures! Our first stop will be
Books Are Magic, famous for its charming ambiance and Instagram-worthy murals. Our next visit is to
The Ripped Bodice, a one-of-a-kind bookstore specializing in romance novels.
After our literary fun-filled day, we'll return to our hotel and you'll have the evening free to explore the vibrant city of New York on your own!
DAY 4 – WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 15 – NEW YORK CITY
Today offers another delightful blend of literary adventures and free time to explore New York City! After enjoying breakfast (on your own), we'll hop on the bus and head to
Harry Potter New York! Get ready for an enchanting experience filled with magical merchandise, interactive exhibits, and themed areas celebrating the wizarding world of Harry Potter!
Afterward, we'll indulge in brunch (and some reading, of course) at a local restaurant (location to be determined). Don't forget to bring a blanket because this afternoon, weather permitting, we'll have time to relax and read in the iconic
Central Park! Sheep Meadow, known for its picturesque scenery and popular depiction in movies and TV shows where people lounge and read, awaits us.
Later in the afternoon, we'll return to the hotel where you'll have the evening free to explore the vibrant sights and sounds of NYC on your own!
DAY 5 – THURSDAY, OCTOBER 16 – NEW YORK CITY
Today is all yours! You have the entire day to explore New York City at your own pace. There are countless options to consider, like catching a
Broadway show, taking in the vibrant sights of
Times Square, walking across the historic
Brooklyn Bridge, enjoying tea at various charming spots around town, visiting
The Edge for stunning city views, or heading to the
Top of the Rock for panoramic vistas. You might also want to visit iconic landmarks such as the
Statue of Liberty or wander through the elevated green oasis of
The High Line. For those seeking breathtaking cityscapes,
Summit One Vanderbilt or the
Empire State Building are must-see destinations. Art enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the
Museum of Modern Art's world-class collections.
Take full advantage of this day—it's our final day in NYC before heading home. Enjoy every moment!
DAY 6 – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 17 – NEW YORK CITY TO PORTLAND ME
Today marks our farewell to NYC as we journey to
Portland, ME, where we'll settle in for the night.
Enjoy your evening exploring the
Old Port, a charming historic district featuring cobblestone streets and brick buildings filled with boutiques, gourmet food shops, and souvenir stores.
DAY 7 – SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18 – PORTLAND ME TO NB & NS
After a complimentary breakfast, we’re homeward bound after an incredible week of bookish escapades in the heart of New York City!
We'll be making a stop for a photo op at the legendary
Stephen King House. Stephen King, the mastermind behind spine-chilling tales and gripping narratives, hails from Maine, where his iconic residence stands as a testament to his literary prowess and unique style.
